History and documentation
Exhibition history
Documented in contemporary illustrated coverage of École de Paris, Galerie Charpentier, Paris, 1963: F. R., “Três exposições em Paris”, Diário de Lisboa, 7 November 1963. Exact exhibition dates and catalogue number remain unverified. The article’s separate coverage of the Biennale and Salon d’Automne does not establish this relief’s participation in those exhibitions.

|F. R., “Três exposições em Paris”, Diário de Lisboa, no. 14691, year 43, 1st edition, 7 November 1963, Vida Literária e Artística supplement, digital image 20 of 24. The caption names the illustrated relief Sinfonia de Pássaros under the École de Paris heading. Fundação Mário Soares e Maria Barroso, Ruella Ramos collection, Casa Comum, cota 06551.089.18574. The exact visual match was verified against Casa Comum’s scan. “Digital image 20” is an image number, not a verified printed page number. The newspaper establishes that the work existed by 7 November 1963; the execution date of 1963 follows the Bastas catalogue. |Archives de la critique d’art, finding aid FR ACA BIENN PRE63_03/102, [7 novembre 1963/02], for the same F. R. article in Diário de Lisboa. It names the illustrated work Symphonie des oiseaux and describes a one-leaf Portuguese clipping, with a digital copy named ACA_05_BIENN_PRESSE_1962-1964_094.jpg. The finding aid corroborates the reference; visual identification rests on Casa Comum’s newspaper scan, not on a separately inspected archival reproduction. The clipping’s presence in the Biennale de Paris archive does not establish that the relief was exhibited at the Biennale.
